Therapy Dog
Gus
Gus is an AKC Registered Golden Retriever. He lived with his breeder for the first 2 years of his life, working as a show dog. At age 2, Gus decided it was time for a career-change, and that’s when he became a part of my family.
After meeting Gus for the first time, I quickly observed his calming and intuitive nature. It seemed like he was meant to be a therapy dog and so began our journey. Gus has gone through training and evaluation in order to receive his certifications.
Gus works alongside me in both Animal-Assisted Therapy and Animal-Assisted Activities. Gus loves meeting and interacting with people and has a sense for knowing when they need some extra comfort or a good laugh. His presence helps others feel grounded and supported—whether they are participating in therapy sessions, group workshops, or community visits.
When he’s not at the office, Gus lives a normal dog life. Some of his favorite activities are rolling in the grass, hiking, and protecting everyone from squirrels.

Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT)
AAT is a goal-directed, therapeutic intervention led by a licensed mental health professional. In AAT, the presence of an animal supports clinical goals such as reducing anxiety, improving emotional regulation, building trust, or enhancing social skills. Want to work with Gus in this setting? Animal-Assisted Activities (AAA)
AAA are informal, motivational, and recreational interactions with therapy animals that promote well-being, joy, and social engagement. These activities — such as school visits, community events, or wellness sessions — are less structured than therapy but equally meaningful in fostering connection and comfort.
